Manager I, Accounting
Salary $74,000-$86,000, depending on experience.
What we are looking for
If you enjoy helping others in a fast-paced office environment, you might be a fit at Armed Forces Insurance. This position supervises a unit of processing and customer service staff performing all activities relating to cash receipts, cash disbursements, billing, and overdue account collections for AFI lines of business nationwide.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
  • BS/BA Degree in a relevant discipline
    • Four years of relevant work experience may substitute this requirement
EXPERIENCE
  • Two years of satisfactory job performance in a senior Accounting (or equivalent) position with AFI, or four years of accounting experience in a financial services or property/casualty insurance company
  • Keyboard skills of at least 35 wpm
  • Competent written communications skills
Nice to Have Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, to include the ability to engage in effective one-on-one counseling with unit employees and the ability to conduct efficient unit meetings and/or training sessions
  • Excellent written communications skills, to include the ability to produce well-documented recommendations for management, policy and procedure statements, and correspondence with external professional contacts (regulators, other insurance company staff, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Detailed knowledge of MS Excel
  • Ability to learn to utilize AFI’s computer system for data access and data query
  • Ability to learn call distribution and monitoring software
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to perform moderately complex mathematical functions, which may include statistical analysis, modeling, and calculation of percentages and ratios
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to gather and analyze relevant facts and information needed to determine appropriate actions or recommendations to management
