Appointment is subject to 2 year trial period IAW EO 14284Qualifications:In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: At least 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. The primary purpose of Police Work, is to lead, manage, and perform security force activities in direct support of the United States Nuclear Enterprise; weapon systems and physical security; law and order; military working dog; combat arms; and area security operations. The work directs the control and operations of firing ranges; and inspects, repairs, and maintains ground weapons. Enforce laws, maintains law and order, preserves the peace, and protects life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of military installations. Must qualify, acknowledge and agree to the selective factors IAW NGB 0083 Occupational series.
Position Series and AFSC require routine access to Secret material or similar environment; therefore, award and retention of AFSC 3P0X1, completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management, are mandatory.
Experience requirements: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment. (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only and unspecified work schedule will result in disqualification. Conditions of Employment continued:
- The incumbent must wear a DAF Police Officer uniform as identified in the DAF Police AFI and required to meet dress and appearance standards when supporting non-DoD agencies IAW the AFI. Dual Status technicians, military uniform will be worn at the discretion of the SFS commander.
- Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g.,respirator mask).
- Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate all security forces vehicles and installed equipment.
- Subject to duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard in accordance with AFI 36-2646,Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Programs.11. Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by NGB/A4 and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification.
- Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
- Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g., Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
- The incumbent must obtain and maintain qualifications and/or certifications as identified by the hiring official of all equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the duties of the position.
- Must complete the following duty position evaluations (DPEs) within the first two years of employment and be successfully re-evaluated in accordance with standards listed in AFI 36-2646,Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Program. The DPE qualifications must occur in this order; (1) Installation Entry Controller, (2) Patrolman/Security Response Team, (3) Alarm Monitor and (4) Base Defense Operations Center Controller/Dispatcher.
- This position does not meet the definition of law enforcement officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity 1A W 5CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.
- The incumbent of this position is required to meet certain physical requirements and is required to provide a copy of their current AF Form 422 or AF Form 469 annually.
- To qualify for this series, a current physical and a cleared drug test are mandatory.
- A copy of the signed conditions of employment will be provided to all employees and their supervisors; additionally, the original will be placed in the official personnel file.
