Job description

This position has been deemed critical by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Dean’s Office and is exempt from the hiring pause.

This position is based on Stanford’s main campus with consideration given to the option for a hybrid work schedule (partially onsite 3 or more days a week), or fully remote, subject to operational need.

The Department of Energy Science and Engineering

The Department is seeking a full time Research Administrator 2 to join our finance team. With assistance from the Department’s senior finance personnel, this person will play an integral role in managing highly complex faculty financial portfolios, including all aspects of research administration, both pre- and post-award, as well as gift and discretionary accounts; and will manage the Department’s industrial affiliate program memberships.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of sponsored research and budget management, as well as the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate will have a good sense of humor and the ability to interact well with our current administrative team, faculty and students in a culturally diverse environment.If you are highly motivated and up for a challenge, this position may be the right career opportunity for you!

Your Responsibilities will include:
  • Pre-award proposal preparation/submission and post-award administration of federal and non-federal grants, contracts and gifts
  • Budget preparation
  • Transaction approvals
  • Account reconciliation, analysis, reporting and forecasting
  • Administering Industrial Affiliate Program membership contracts and invoices
In addition to the minimum qualifications listed below, our preferred qualifications include:Knowledge of:
  • Stanford University financial systems and policies.
  • sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.
  • Industrial Affiliate Program policies and processes.
Working Conditions:
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours

The expected pay range for this position is $102,428 to $115,626 per annum.
