Position Title: Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) Location: Camp Pendleton, CA Position Type: Full-time Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 Security Clearance Requirement: Position requires active security clearance Certification Requirements:
CompTIA Security+ Years of Experience: 3+ years Roles and Responsibilities:
The Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) will enable the warfighters of the Fleet Marine Forces (FMF) to setup, configure, troubleshoot, and operate the AFATDS/THSv2 to enable them to utilize a single system to control close air support as well as artillery, mortars and naval surface fire support missions. This role will support Tactical C5ISR systems in CONUS and OCONUS regions supporting units in combat operations and/or advise and assist with missions. Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS):
Deep working knowledge of setup, configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of AFATDS
Hands‑on experience integrating AFATDS with fire support systems and tactical C5ISR networks
Familiarity with Marine Corps targeting/fire‑support policies and procedures governing AFATDS use
Experience deploying, configuring, sustaining, and troubleshooting THSv2
Proficiency in mission support phases, including system software loads, map/data updates, and hardware diagnostics
Experience with Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS)
Familiarity with laser rangefinders, designators, FMV receivers, and USMC tactical radios/networks Education/Knowledge:
Experience equal to degree level if no higher education degrees exist.
Familiar with USMC tactical fire systems to include AFATDS, THSv2
Familiar with laser range finders, designators, and full-motion video receivers.
Familiar with Marine Corps targeting and fire support policies and procedures.
Familiar with Marine Corp radios and networks. Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Significant hands-on experience with AFATDS, including setup, operation, integration, and troubleshooting
Working knowledge and experience with THSv2, including configuration and sustainment
CompTIA Security+ certification (required)
Active DOD Sponsored Security Clearance (required)
CCENT/CCNA or equivalent network training/certification (preferred)
Experience supporting U.S. Marine Corps tactical fire support and C4I systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver end-user training and write technical documentation Requirements:
TRAVEL REQUIRED FOR POSITION - Must be able to obtain or possess a valid US Passport and be physically qualified to support military exercises and contingency operations.
Experience working with customers, addressing issues, and managing customer concerns and requests over the phone and/or in person.
Strong active listening, data entry, and documentation skills.
Experience writing technical solutions and commercial knowledgebase articles.
Intermediate analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and consistent resolution of IT problems.
Experience supporting Marine Corps C4I systems and equipment.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in military training and education.
Direct participation in real-world operations is desired.
Willing to work in a 24x7x365 secured environment, demonstrate intuitive problem-solving skills, and allow for flexible scheduling.
