The AES Operations team is looking for a Battery Energy Storage Technician II with solid troubleshooting experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, and demonstrate the ability to lead, train, and work with other field personnel.

This role will be based in Dateland, AZ

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Travel to energy storage facilities in local region to perform preventative & corrective maintenance on GPTech and EPC Inverters
  • Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining an energy storage facility
  • Coordinate and manage contractors engaged to support maintenance activities
  • Provide limited support for commissioning activities
  • Lead/support warranty claims processes with vendors as needed.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
  • Perform work independently and in team environments
  • Must express emotional intelligence and work well with others in a collaborative environment

Desired Skills, Expertise, and Competencies:

  • Proven experience with a variety of electrical equipment and knowledge of basic IT (Information Technology) and remote communications equipment
  • Experience with Solar PV (Photovoltaic) Technology or Energy Storage a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan preventative & corrective maintenance on energy storage equipment.
  • Understanding general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards and assisting in improving existing standards.
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional and geographically diverse organization
  • Maturity, professionalism, and excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Self-starter, developed interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic necessary

Education / Experience:

  • Technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience as a Energy Storage O&M (Operations & Maintenance) technician
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in power generation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and electrical theory application
  • Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities
  • OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) 10 and NFPA 70e Certifications
  • Knowledge of NFPA 855

Working Conditions:

  • Working outside
  • Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high/low humidity areas
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
  • Requires use of personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals
  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies, as needed
  • Candidate must be able to pass random drug and alcohol testing where allowed by law.
