The Applications Engineer provides technical sales expertise to support business development in winning new programs and then introducing these programs to manufacturing sites while driving continuous improvement throughout their life cycle.
Principal Duties and Essential Functions
  • Creating necessary internal and deliverable technical material, data, and documentation, and assisting with training.
  • Preparing cost, resource, and schedule plans and budgets, and executing to them.
  • Assessing existing processes, both qualitatively and quantitatively, on a rolling and continuous basis to make improvements.
  • Preparing cost estimates and contributing to quotes and proposals.
  • Preparing technical proposals to meet customer needs.
  • Interacting with customers to determine and understand their requirements, both explicit and implied.
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry developments through technical publications, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Interacting with vendors and technical institutions.
  • Preparing business justifications for acquiring new technology and managing its introduction to the business.
  • Maintaining regular customer and vendor contact at a technical and commercial level through site visits.
  • Recommending and preparing justifications for process, technology, and equipment improvements.
  • Performing other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  2. 5 years of related experience.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Technical and planning problem-solving skills.
  5. CAD experience.
  6. Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, MS Project, and Autodesk Design.
  7. Experience using/interacting with ERP systems.
  8. Excellent customer relationship skills and outstanding attention to detail.
  9. US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  1. Master's Degree in Engineering.
  2. Experience in Aerospace, Defense, Advanced Composites, or Multilayer Insulation.
  3. Project management and sales engineering experience.
