Aeroseal information

What is an Aeroseal?

An Aeroseal job involves sealing ductwork from the inside using a specialized aerosol-based technology. Technicians inject a non-toxic sealant mist into the duct system, which adheres to and seals leaks, improving HVAC efficiency. This process enhances indoor air quality, increases energy efficiency, and reduces utility costs. Aeroseal professionals typically work in residential, commercial, or industrial settings to optimize airflow and system performance.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of an Aeroseal technician?

Aeroseal technicians typically start their day by reviewing work orders and preparing sealing equipment and supplies. They travel to residential or commercial job sites, assess existing ductwork, set up the Aeroseal system, and monitor the sealing process to ensure optimal results. Technicians also document their findings, explain the process and results to customers, and may conduct follow-up tests to confirm improvements. Collaboration with other HVAC professionals or building contractors is often needed, making teamwork and effective communication important aspects of the role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Aeroseal position?

To thrive as an Aeroseal technician, you need mechanical aptitude, experience with HVAC systems, and preferably a background in construction or building maintenance. Familiarity with equipment such as air duct sealing systems, pressure gauges, and relevant certifications like EPA Section 608 or NATE are highly advantageous. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and customer service orientation set top performers apart. These capabilities are vital for effectively diagnosing and sealing ductwork, ensuring customer satisfaction, and adhering to safety standards.
