Job description

Ensuring Chart's Success...
Chart Industries is currently seeking an Aerodynamics Engineer to be based in our Beasley or Stafford, TX locations.
The position requires a leader with a deep knowledge of fundamental Aerodynamics and application of aerodynamics on turbomachinery. The preferred candidate will have experience in developing and integrating Aerodynamics into the turbomachinery market within the gas and oil industry. The candidate should also have experience with experimental Aerodynamic measurement methods and should have the ability to lead an organization through change, technical coaching ability and good communication skills.
What Will You Do?
  • Utilize tools to perform expander/compressor wheel sizing for optimal machine performance
  • Perform feasibility studies and provide expected performance for projects in bid stages
  • Design expander and compressor wheels and nozzles using provided modeling and analytic software
  • Perform reliable, high-fidelity CFD simulations to support performance validation
  • Work with mechanical engineers to ensure wheel designs are manufacturable and mechanically sound
  • Provide support for expander and compressor performance shop tests
  • Lead development and implement innovation to improve Aerodynamics performance.
  • Drive increased use of all the Aerodynamic tools to achieve their full potential
  • Provide significant guidance resolving and troubleshooting program aerodynamic issues
  • Develop and maintain Aerodynamics best practices with emphasis on the moving ground interactions

Your Experience Should Be...
  • 5+ years of experience with Aerodynamics development and integration pertaining to turbomachinery.
  • Track record of developing new methods/enablers, overcoming technical challenges and leading change
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on fluid mechanics
  • Exposure and understanding of CFD techniques and software capabilities
  • Exposure and understanding of 1D and 2D wheel design tools
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and integrate solutions

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in expander or compressor Aerodynamics
  • Advanced Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with Concepts NREC
  • Experience with Solidworks
  • Experience with CXF
  • Experience with API 617
