Job description

Fotokite develops autonomous, high-endurance tethered unmanned aerial systems to help firefighters and public safety teams save lives.

Fotokite systems allow first responders to quickly and easily gain situational awareness after arriving at emergency scenes: our autonomous one-touch launch/land system makes operation simple and safe; the dual color and thermal camera payload provides situational awareness from the system’s aerial perspective; and actively tethered flight means the system can be flown without a certified pilot, and can be left flying for as long as the situation requires.

The UAS Support Technician will work with a team of engineers and technicians to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair drones and their electro-mechanical subsystems. This role is hands-on and requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow repair/assembly procedures. The ideal candidate will support ongoing product and process improvements by providing feedback from repair operations, contributing to faster diagnostics, streamlined processes, and improved customer support.

  • Identifies and replaces defective components, including motors, sensors, wiring, PCBs, and other parts

  • Supports root-cause analysis and failure reporting processes
  • Provides feedback to the engineering and product teams to improve system reliability and serviceability
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and ESD-safe workstation

  • Experience working in an ESD-safe environment, handling sensitive electronic components according to best practices
  • Proven record of proactively working to meet production timelines
  • Working experience with common spreadsheet and word processing tools, such as G-Suite and/or MS Office
  • Desirable, but not required:
    • Experience working with drones

  • Experience working for an international company is a plus
  • Fluency in English is required, any other language is a plus

Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000 (salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)
