Job description

THE COMPANY

Our client is a long-established leader in outdoor and location-based advertising, helping local businesses and national brands reach consumers through high-visibility media in public spaces. The company’s platform includes billboards, digital displays, transportation advertising, airport media, murals, interstate logo programs, and other out-of-home advertising solutions. This opportunity is part of a newly launched airport advertising program in the Raleigh-Durham market. The person hired will represent a highly visible airport media environment and help businesses connect with travelers, professionals, business owners, and regional consumers through creative advertising campaigns. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys local relationship building, consultative advertising sales, and the challenge of growing a market during an exciting transition period.

THE JOB

The Airport Advertising Manager will be responsible for selling airport advertising to local, regional, and qualified advertisers in the Raleigh-Durham market. This is a relationship-based outside sales role that requires regular interaction with prospects, customers, airport personnel, and internal support teams. The role is remote from a traditional office standpoint, but it is highly active in the local market. The person hired must be close enough to Raleigh-Durham International Airport to conduct airport tours, meet advertisers, support customer needs, and respond quickly when market or fulfillment issues arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect, develop, and close new airport advertising business in the Raleigh-Durham market
  • Build relationships with local businesses, direct advertisers, agencies, and regional brands
  • Maintain and grow a personal account list through phone outreach, in-person meetings, presentations, and airport tours
  • Sell advertising through a consultative, relationship-based approach
  • Create clear proposals, campaign recommendations, and written quotations for prospects and customers
  • Negotiate rates, close deals, and provide strong customer service after the sale
  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue objectives
  • Use Salesforce or similar sales tools to manage pipeline, opportunities, reporting, and account activity
  • Coordinate with marketing, fulfillment, sales management, administrative, billing, and operations teams
  • Serve as a local point of contact for airport advertising inventory, campaign needs, and market opportunities
  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship with Airport Authority personnel
  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal stakeholders, airport contacts, national sales, and customers
  • Monitor campaign opportunities, renewals, market activity, competitive activity, and local advertising trends
  • Take ownership when customer issues or campaign execution problems arise
  • Spend regular time in the market, at the airport, and with customers or prospects

THE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–3+ years of successful B2B out of home advertising sales experience required
  • Advertising, media, out-of-home, airport, transit, cinema, billboard, radio, TV, digital media, sponsorship, or local direct advertising sales experience required
  • Proven ability to prospect, open doors, build relationships, and close new business
  • Experience selling to local businesses, business owners, marketing leaders, agencies, or regional brands
  • Strong written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain advertising value, audience quality, campaign visibility, and physical media placement to customers
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal day-to-day direction
  • Strong organization, urgency, follow-through, and personal accountability
  • Ability to use Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, CRM systems, or comparable sales tools
  • Professional presence and judgment to represent the company with airport leadership and local business executives
  • Ability to manage customer issues and coordinate internally to resolve problems
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must live within a reasonable driving distance of Raleigh-Durham International Airport or have existing, concrete plans to be local immediately
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

THE BENEFITS

  • Realistic total compensation: $90,000–$120,000, with higher long-term upside as the program grows.
  • Commission bridge or guarantee may be considered based on candidate background and current earnings.
  • Benefits include phone allowance, six-week training, medical/dental/vision, HSA options, disability coverage, paid parental leave, 120 hours PTO, 12 holidays, ESPP, 401(k) match, wellness incentives, professional development, and advancement opportunities.
  • Strong opportunity for a media sales professional to own a visible local market, sell premium airport advertising, and help build a growing program backed by a large national company.
