Department: Creative Services
Reporting to: Director of Strategic Communications
Location: Lenexa, KS/ Topeka, KS - Onsite
Overview:
As a Copywriter, you'll collaborate closely with our Strategic Communications Director and a dynamic team of creatives. Your role will be crucial in developing punchy, sales-driven content that captivates and converts. Whether you're crafting copy for digital campaigns, printed materials, video scripts, or website content, you'll always be focused on connecting with our audience on both an emotional and logical level.

What you'll do:
  • Develop punchy, attention-grabbing, sales-driven content and concepts often in partnership with graphic designers or videographers, for use in various marketing campaigns
  • Create original content for digital and printed materials, websites, case studies, e-blasts, feature articles, promotional pieces, presentations and various other communications
  • Leverage AI content generation and agentic tools to create content, identify and correct errors, ensure style consistency, and accelerate quality control across all assets
  • Continuously refine prompts and AI outputs; apply editorial judgment to fact-check, maintain brand voice, and ensure compliance across all content
  • Keep tabs on industry trends-getting to the innate need and desires and appealing to the psyche of the intended audience
  • Lead and participate in brainstorms to find creative solutions to problems
  • Regularly review and provide feedback to other creatives to ensure finished products are in line with strategic goals and concepts
  • Review and share feedback with the Strategic Communications team on writing and advertising trends, and ways to grow and improve in our craft
  • Attend, summarize and recap various conference calls, webinars and training events
  • Interview top clients and stakeholders, turning their stories into compelling content
  • Assist in idea generation and implementation of creative means for conveying information
  • Review competitor copy to stay informed of emerging industry trends, offers and possible business threats and opportunities
  • Work in tandem with in-house and third-party compliance personnel to revise copy as needed to maintain compliant content at all times
  • Work in tandem with other Strategic Communications and Creative team members
  • Perform other duties as needed, adapting to the ever-evolving needs of our team

Experience you'll bring:
  • 3+ years of experience in advertising copywriting
  • A bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, or a related field, plus an impressive portfolio showcasing your skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Write and edit error-free content on a short timeline for distribution through various media
  • Vary tone and messaging based on medium, target audience and product
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions while meeting tight deadlines, producing high quality work and projecting a positive attitude
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team
  • Establish rapport with clients, actively listening to their needs and developing solutions to meet them
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
