Job Summary
The Billing Coordinator helps coordinate insurance claim filings such as submissions, tracking, payment posting and allocation, and appeal of denials. This role also submits and tracks pre-authorizations and pre-determinations for treatments.
  • Generates patient statements and other invoices.
  • Works on data entry, posting payments, reconciling billings and invoices, checking balances and maintaining patient files.
  • Works with insurance companies to perform insurance billing, review, and verification of accounts in accordance with program provisions.
  • Verifies eligibility and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, entering medical codes, requesting payments, and resolving account issues.
  • May assist with other functions of revenue cycle operations.
  • May perform accounts receivable audits and adjustments.
  • May run reports related to medical billing.
Qualifications
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
Preferred
  • Courses in insurance billing, data processing, and medical terminology.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, medical billing, or a related field.
SKILLS

Working Conditions / Demands

Work Location
This is a fully remote position. However, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
