ARTFORUM: Advertising Executive
The publishing team at ARTFORUM and Art Media (ARTnews and Art in America) is seeking an Advertising Executive, with familiarity and appreciation for the brands, who is well connected within the art world in New York and has a comprehensive knowledge of the galleries and museums in New York. The ideal candidate is both personable and professional, has a proven track record in art media or gallery sales, and is adept at building relationships; can speak intelligently about the differences between all three publications, and has excellent negotiating, presentation and interpersonal skills.
ARTFORUM values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for driving revenue across Artforum's and Art Media's (ARTnews and Art in America) including print, digital platforms and sponsorships.
  • Maintains relationships with existing gallery and institutional advertisers and ensures excellent service and maximum potential sales.
  • Identifies potential new advertisers, generates leads and builds relationships by frequently visiting galleries and museums, presents opportunities and closes sales.
  • Coordinates across production, ad operations, and finance teams from booking reservations to invoicing and presenting traffic reports.
  • Prepares concise and accurate reports and proposals, creates Insertion orders, keeps the comp list for their sales regions updated.
  • Assists in organizing any entertainment on behalf of the magazine.
  • Represent ARTFORUM and Art Media at industry events and client meetings, demonstrating thought leadership and championing mission, brand values, and editorial.
  • Regularly visits galleries, attends openings, dinners, fairs, and other events on behalf of the publications.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 5 years' client-facing experience in a similar role in an entrepreneurial environment with a proven track record in meeting revenue goals.
  • In depth knowledge of the contemporary art world and competitive environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders at all levels.

A good faith estimate of the salary range is $80k - $90k upon hire + quarterly commission. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role.
