Construction Purchasing Agent
Position Summary
The Construction Purchasing Agent is responsible for coordinating and managing the procurement process for residential construction projects. This role ensures that all necessary materials, equipment, and services are purchased accurately, cost-effectively, and delivered on schedule to support construction timelines and budgets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Source and identify reliable suppliers for construction materials, equipment, and services
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable agreements
  • Review project specifications, plans, and blueprints to determine required materials and quantities
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure timely delivery to job sites
  • Monitor weekly home starts and release purchase orders in phases based on construction schedules
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing information, and vendor files
  • Collaborate with construction, estimating, and accounting teams to ensure purchasing accuracy and efficiency
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the purchasing process
  • Assist with budget tracking and cost management throughout the construction cycle

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Residential homebuilding purchasing experience required
  • Advanced knowledge of Constellation New Star Enterprise
  • Advanced knowledge of Constellation New Star Sales
  • Experience with BuildPro/SupplyPro scheduling
  • Advanced understanding of construction blueprints and specifications
  • Knowledge of material estimating and takeoffs
  • Strong understanding of budgets and cost management
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
