General Role Description

Provide hardware and software design for drive, inverter, motor, and control solutions for the business unit's (BU) industries that meet client needs and fulfill project requirements

Role Accountabilities

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Interpret client specifications and apply industry codes and standards to all products supplied to meet project requirements

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Create equipment specifications, bills of materials, and drawings, utilizing Company approved tools, that accurately reflect each project's equipment and product needs to ensure a design that meets project requirements and quality standards

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prepare purchase specification and ERP requisition in a timely manner to achieve the project schedule

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Track all revisions to the specifications and drawings, complying with established change control procedures

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Edit project drawings to reflect preliminary, manufacturing, as shipped, and final "As-Installed" configurations

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Update the project drawings as needed in support of site commissioning activities

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develop project documentation in accordance with design standards and project requirements

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Control document distribution, and archiving using established document control procedures

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Interpret and implement software project design requirements in collaboration with the project team and client

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Build control system software files as needed for products supplied with a project

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develop and document software interfaces to client and third-party systems

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform system test and simulation to ensure quality functionality

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrate product capabilities during client witness of system test as needed

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Provide technical instruction to commissioning engineers and clients during system installation

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develop engineering standards and engineering practices as assigned that contribute to the development of the Company's engineering automation tools to improve productivity, increase quality, and reduce cost

Requirements

  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering or related field, or equivalent via education and/or work experienc
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  2 years' design experience in circuit and control panel design and/or commissioning of control systems for industrial applications
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards related to control panel design including device selection, cable selection etc.
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated knowledge of industrial PLC and field I/O
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated experience using AutoCAD or equivalent drawing tool for industrial application
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated success as contributing member in project team
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  5 years of design experience, specializing in motor drive design, utility scale photovoltaic inverter systems, circuit design and/or control panel design

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Electrical hardware design experience.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Exposure to electrical panel design, wiring and build

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Familiarity with industrial PLC and associated I/O

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Familiarity with industrial panel manufacturing and commissioning practices

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrated experience with software design for industrial PLC, distributed I/O, and HMI systems

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Advanced Excel Skills

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Familiarity with Visual Basic programming or equivalent
