UCTย is looking for a talentedย Engineering Technician IIIย to join us inย Austin, Texas!

The Engineering Technician III supports the Engineering department in assembling, diagnosing, and testing complex electro-mechanical systems. This role serves as a technical expert on the production floor, resolving first-line escalations and contributing to prototype development and design refinement. The technician applies engineering principles, CAD tools, and GMP standards to enhance product quality and manufacturability, while actively participating in design reviews and documentation improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Job duties include:

  • Follows all EH&S standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Alerts Supervisors of EH&S concerns to ensure unsafe conditions are documented and corrected.
  • Acts to ensure the facility is presentable to customers and other visitors, meeting 5S standards.
  • Participates in CAPA resolution, defect and failure analysis, internal and external audits, and preventative actions.
  • Provides Advanced Sustaining Engineering support to the facility, and to other facilities. Supports Failure Analysis, Root cause analysis (CAPA,8D, FMEA) to support value added customer interaction.
  • Has active role in Failure Analysis procedure for evaluation of field failures for new parts and processes under development. Supports FOI, OCAP and other recovery tools.
  • Work with Engineering team in development and implementation of BKMโ€™s.ย  Assist with technical plant tours, presentations, and problem resolution.
  • Leads in costs and time studies, Creates CEW without engineering support.
  • Supports the Perfect Qual Process. Insures global best practices are used on every qualification. Apply Advanced Process knowledge and extensive experience to help achieve and maintain process control.ย ย  Demonstrate the ability to evaluate and communicate the effectiveness of new processes and services.
  • Supports process transfers with extensive CE knowledge of processing of parts.
  • Reviews, develops, and maintains process documents, drawings, eRecipe, etc.
  • Maintains existing standard operating procedures and recommends revisions to improve productivity, effectiveness, and safety.
  • Assists in designing, evaluating, and implementing new designs of production equipment and tooling (fixtures, baskets, etc.) required for efficient and effective part processing.
  • Monitors production equipment (tanks, pumps, heaters, etc.) and participates in equipment replacement and specification efforts.
  • Recommends changes as necessary and supports problem resolution of process materials (chemicals, powders, gases, blast media, etc.).
  • Monitors process parameters (pressures, temperatures, concentration, contamination, etc.) and supports problem resolution.
  • Advanced knowledge in Chemistry (acids, bases, and solvents) and how they relate to BKMs.
  • Trains Technicians Operation Trainers and Engineering Technicians 1 and 2 to perform duties according to current and developing Standard Operating Procedures
  • Revision of training material and support on the job training (OJT).
  • Updates PartSmart as required.
  • Writes new process instructions, operating procedures, and training documents. Create eRecipe as required.
  • Runs and assists in analyzing PCS data collections as required.
  • Participates in CIP activities pertaining to new process improvement or product upgrades.
  • Assists with process control strategies for new and existing processes.
  • Actively writes and drives MOC actions and implementations.

Other Duties

Participates in projects as assigned to improve systems, operations & cross-functional collaboration. Other duties may be assigned and at the discretion of the Company.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills- email/ phone.
  • Drafting software experience (i.e., CAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Ability to perform or closely direct new processes, record data, make recommendations as to process improvements and write reports in conjunction with Engineers.
  • Highly Proficient use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with TrueChem, JPM, MathCAD

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • High School Diploma
  • Working towards an AA in Engineering Technology, chemistry, engineering technology or equivalent.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of electro-mechanical technician experience within a manufacturing environment required.
