Job description

General Summary:
The Engineering Technician supports process engineering by executing hands-on tasks related to prototype development, new product introduction (NPI), tooling & fixture fabrication, and equipment setup. This role assists in the new product introduction process, supports addressing quality issues, assists in process optimization, and performs technical tasks under the direction of engineering staff.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Engineering associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook, Minitab
  • Experience with Solidworks and MasterCam or equivalent

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to operate vertical and CNC mills, surface grinders, molding machines, or furnaces
  • Ability to interpret engineering and technical drawings
  • Must be highly safety conscious
  • Able to move injection molds
  • Work performed in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports NPI by helping set up and program equipment
  • Perform and document manufacturing and engineering process activities
  • Participate in MRB investigations and support root cause analysis
  • Utilize engineering programs such as Solidworks and MasterCam for prototyping, tooling and fixture design
  • Assist with the design and approval of injection molding tooling
  • Assist with design, build, and setup machining, sizing and secondary operations
  • Identify solutions to technical problems
  • Document processes and create work instructions to manufacture products
  • Support collecting, analyzing, and presenting manufacturing data
  • Document best practices and create training materials
  • Assist with robotic system implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Perform DOE tasks with engineering support
  • Assist in ramp-up and preventive maintenance of equipment
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Follow the standards of ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 International Standards
  • Perform other tasks assigned by engineers
