Position Overview:

A leading innovator in high-performance metal alloys is seeking a results-oriented Director of Business Development to drive commercial growth in the additive manufacturing and advanced powder metallurgy markets. This strategic leadership role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, cultivating key client relationships, and accelerating revenue across targeted industries such as aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing.

The ideal candidate combines technical understanding with a commercial mindset, and thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments. This is a high-impact position with cross-functional influence, tasked with shaping go-to-market strategies and building a strong customer base in both emerging and established markets.


Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Growth & Market Development
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies aligned with corporate objectives and unique product value propositions.

  • Identify and pursue high-potential opportunities in additive manufacturing and adjacent metal powder segments.

  • Analyze customer needs, market trends, and competitive dynamics to inform product positioning and innovation.

  • Provide strategic input to product development and R&D based on real-time market feedback.

Customer & Partner Engagement
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with engineering, procurement, and executive stakeholders at key accounts.

  • Lead structured onboarding and growth strategies for both new and existing clients.

  • Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings, promoting the company’s technical and commercial capabilities.

Sales Execution
  • Own the sales pipeline and revenue targets across assigned territories and verticals.

  • Lead commercial proposals, including pricing strategy, scope development, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Foster a culture of responsiveness, follow-through, and customer-centric communication.

Internal Collaboration & Reporting
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and leadership to deliver on customer requirements and timelines.

  • Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to shape strategic planning.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, track performance metrics, and contribute to forecasting and sales reporting.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, or business (advanced degree preferred).

  • 8–10 years of experience in business development, technical sales, or partnerships within metal powders, additive manufacturing, aerospace, or advanced materials.

  • Strong background in managing complex, high-value technical sales cycles.

  • Demonstrated success in launching or scaling commercial efforts in early-stage or high-growth environments.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
