The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

The business employs advanced materials science and applications expertise to produce parts that enhance reliability or improve the performance of its customers' products. Much of what the global business unit makes is used in demanding, harsh or critical environments. Our Technical Ceramics business works in selected segments of the electronics, energy, healthcare, industrial, petrochemicals, security and transport markets, typically in close collaborative customer relationships.

ResponsibilitiesProduct Development EngineerLocation: Hudson, NH (with some travel)The Company & Why This Role MattersYou'll be joining a business that works behind the scenes of some pretty advanced industries-semiconductors and optics. In simple terms, they make ultra-pure ceramic materials that keep high-tech manufacturing running smoothly.This role sits right at the heart of that. You'll take ideas from concept through to production-turning technical know-how into real, working products. Not just drawings on a screen, but parts that meet tight specs and actually perform in the real world.The RoleThis isn't a "watch from the sidelines" engineering role. You'll manage product development projects end-to-end-designing, testing, refining, and getting products into production.One day you're working on design specs and CAD models. The next, you're troubleshooting a process issue on the shop floor or working with suppliers to get materials just right.What You'll Be Doing
  • Run product development projects from concept through to production (and everything in between)
  • Create and manage design plans-covering product specs, processes, and inspections
  • Work with suppliers to source materials, components, and equipment
  • Carry out design verification (testing, inspections, FAI, FMEA, control plans)
  • Lead new product introduction (NPI), including documentation and operator training
  • Build and manage project plans, timelines, and risks
  • Keep projects on track-delivering on time and within cost expectations
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to solve real problems
  • Support process improvements, cost reductions, and new ideas for the pipeline
  • Act as a technical go-to for production and quality teams
  • Join customer discussions when needed (sometimes explaining the "why" behind the design)
QualificationsAbout You / What You'll Bring
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or something similar
  • Around 1-3 years' experience in manufacturing, materials, or product development
  • Experience working with technical drawings, specs, and manufacturing processes
  • Confidence managing projects-not just contributing to them
  • Strong communication skills-you can explain technical details without making it confusing
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally (and occasionally chasing people for updates)
  • Solid Excel/Microsoft Office skills; exposure to CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) helps
  • A practical mindset-you like solving problems, not just documenting them
Nice to Have
  • Experience with ceramics, CVD processes, or advanced materials
  • Familiarity with semiconductor or optical manufacturing
  • Exposure to quality tools (FMEA, control plans, etc.)
  • Understanding of regulated environments (ITAR/EAR)
