The Position
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Core focus areas: people management; program management; customer relationship management; technical proficiency in the laboratory; and strategic planning
    • Manage a small team of approximately 5 engineers and technicians
    • Manage approximately 5 programs' cost, schedule, quality, and deliverables
    • Communicate technical developments to customers to meet their requirements and manage expectations
    • "Lead from the lab" by designing and developing additive manufacturing tools, processes, and materials
    • Build the customer base, programs, and products of the division
  • Delegate work and assignments and monitor team members based on their expertise, work experience, and time constraints to meet mechanical components and systems assembly goals and objectives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
  • Provide training and mentoring and talent development as needed.
  • Identify and recommend objectives and scope of technical projects and delegate goals, scope approach, and schedules to assigned personnel.
  • Conduct cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project.
  • Review project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.
  • Collect, store, manage, and report data associated with assembled mechanical systems
  • Act as a liaison between company, customers, and vendors addressing questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project.
  • Develop presentations to report research, engineering, and development communication and results
  • Interface with customers and provides consultation support to multiple projects in area of additive manufacturing.
  • Research new technologies and systems that can improve the quality, performance, and productivity of company and customer systems and programs
  • Perform mechanical design of hardware and systems and serve as a Principal Investigator for additive manufacturing initiatives.
  • Provide the conceptual and/or detailed design, development, implementation, verification, and/or validation of technical solutions.
  • Perform analytical modeling, simulation, calculation, and solid modeling of mechanical systems and additive manufacturing technologies
  • Enforce the engineering and business development direction activities of the advanced manufacturing team within the organization.
  • Assess cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes; make and implement recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Develop new products from concept to testing to production.
  • Conduct risk assessments; report identified risks to management; provide recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate).
  • Organize, manage, and plan complex projects for the organization's research, development, and product implementation efforts.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff to determine market potential for new products.
  • Consult with Chief Technical Officer to create long-range operating goals specific to the needs of the organization.
  • Prepare and implement a budget based on estimates for operating requirements, equipment, and material purchases.
  • Communicate and collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices including EPA and OSHA requirements

Qualifications
Basic
  • Experience operating, developing, maintaining additive manufacturing tools

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, which may include Computer Science or Engineering
  • 10 years of Experience; 5 years of Supervisory Experience
  • The ability to obtain/maintain a final Secret DoD clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship
  • Authorization to work for employers in the U.S. without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or transfer employment visas at this time.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred
  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM, and/or comparable project management certifications
  • Experience in microelectronics packaging and integration.
  • Experience in microfabrication or semiconductor manufacturing
  • Ability/contacts rolodex to build the customer base and programs for the division
