Job Summary
The Director, Engineering - Strategic Thermal Labs will be responsible for the management and leadership of a multi-discipline engineering team pursuing the design, development, validation, and deployment of the world's most advanced liquid cooling solutions. This role is responsible for the advanced new product development team, product test and validation team, and the product lifecycle engineering team. Product lines include: direct liquid cooling cold plates, manifolds, rear door heat exchangers, in-rack coolers, heat rejection, etc. Establishes the vision, develops procedures, and facilitates execution of strategic activities for assigned team based on specific global product requirement specifications developed to solve customer problems. Works closely with Offering Managers, Architecture, Sales, and customers to ensure customer problems are solved on time and within budget. Leads an extended team in multiple functional disciplines to complete project tasks for the successful completion of product development deliverables and to meet key business results. This position is a key leader for the High Density Liquid Cooling Business Unit.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver global strategies and products to support the Strategic Thermal Labs Line of Business (LOB).
  • Capable of running parallel path development for speed and re-use of designs.
  • Manage the completion of all new product development (NPD) programs as defined by specifications from Product Offering Manager and Marketing.
  • Deliver NPD products to spec, on time, within budget, and in all regions. (NAM, EMEA, APAC)
  • Provide technical leadership to the business for the specific product group.
  • Manage all aspects of the existing / sustaining products for Server Liquid Systems LOB.
  • Develop budgetary and planning necessary to maintain a viable business plan for future years.
  • Implement pertinent controls to ensure that approved programs are progressing as planned and reported as required.
  • Manage the development of multi-region personnel to improve individual productivity and performance.
  • Maintain appropriate contacts with industry organizations, regulatory agencies, and external pressures to maintain technical leadership.
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge of competitive products.
  • Participate in global planning and development exchange.
  • Manage global resources and vendors capable of multi-regional sourcing support
  • Deliver NPD launches on time, within budget, and per the requirements / specs
  • Ensure all designs meet Safety and Performance Standards for Product Sale
  • Ensure new product development teams adhere to business Standards and Processes

Reporting Relationships:
  • Reports to VP Strategic Thermal Labs
  • Supervises Product Development Engineers, Test and Validation Engineers, Sustaining Engineers.
  • Responsible for supporting all secondary fluid network and in-server cooling solutions.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Computer, or Electrical Engineering from accredited institution.
  • Prefer Masters in Mechanical, Computer, or Electrical Engineering from accredited institution.
  • 15 - 20+ years of experience as a technical manager, with a history of progression in managerial roles.
  • Prefer IT/server experience, or similar industry / product experience.
  • Must provide technical leadership in his/her field.
  • Managerial skills necessary to plan, measure, and motivate engineers to continuously improve their output and personal growth.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable a productive relationship at his/her peer level in the business
  • Solid track record of delivering high quality product launches on time, within budget, and meet all customer expectations.
  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong Problem-Solving skills and the ability to manage cross functional global development teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
