Job description

Job Summary:
The Adult ESL Instructor is responsible for teaching curriculum plans to assist immigrant and refugee adults in increasing English language proficiency for daily life, education, and employment. This position is Part Time. 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Classroom Instruction
•Instruct adult immigrant and refugee students using ESL best practices to increase students’ functional language proficiency and to reach students’ educational and employment goals.
•Collaborates with appropriate program staff to identify relevant and engaging resources to increase English language proficiency.
•Utilizes appropriate technology to enhance instruction including interactive boards, online resources, and Burlington English.
•Develops appropriate instructor-to-adult student relationships to create a positive and encouraging learning environment that respects cultural differences
Programmatic Support
•Engage in at least 7 hours of professional development per year in topics directly related to student needs. Some examples may include English Language Learning, Adult Education, and Employment Training.
•Evaluate and implement new curriculum as different student needs emerge.
•Collaborate with the appropriate staff on creating new course offerings like Digital Skills or Workforce Skills training as student needs are identified.
Administrative Support:
•Assist Student Services in completing student records and proficiency assessments when needed.
•Maintain communication with students on WhatsApp. This includes informing them of program developments, attendance, homework, etc.
•Maintain accurate student records including attendance and submitting data required by Adult Education Policies promptly.

Required Skills/Abilities: 
•    Bachelor's or master's degree required. 
•    Oklahoma state teacher certification or TESOL/TESL certification required. 
•    Two years’ ESL teaching experience required.
