Job description


Job Title: Part-time ESL Instructor
Department: Economic Inclusion and Workforce Development
Schedule: As determined with supervisor, up to 20 hours per week
Supervisor: Adult Education Coordinator
Status: Part-time staff, non-exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ESL Instructor’s role is to deliver in-person group ESL classes based on workforce development and education-focused curricula to adult learners with varying cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The instructor will be responsible for overseeing learners’ progress, maintaining attendance records, and conducting quarterly level completion exams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with the Adult Education Coordinator and Job Coach on client enrollment, implementation, and delivery of ESL instruction on workforce development topics.
  • Teach literacy to advanced-level adult ESL learners using textbooks and digital materials.
  • Assign tasks and track progress via a Cambridge One teacher account.
  • Conduct exams, grade submissions, and place learners in relevant classes upon each level's completionMaintain attendance records.
  • Liaise with relevant staff regarding a student’s performance and progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field and a minimum of two years of ESL experience teaching adults.
  • Passion to assist learners of all language levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to provide guidance, support, and feedback to the learners.
  • Excellent organizational, classroom, and time management skills.
  • Experience working as part of a team in a diverse, multicultural environment.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

COMPENSATION
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $20 - $25 based on experience.
