Job description

Office: Office of Admission

Reports to: Director of Admission

Hours: Full-time

Overtime: Exempt

Job Grade: 7

General Summary: Serves as a representative of the mission and values of the College to the internal Agnes Scott community and to the public such as, but not limited to, high school visits, college fairs, and recruitment-related events. An Admission Counselor is heavily involved in the enrollment and admission process through recruitment travel, application review, admission and financial aid counseling, and partaking in admission events. This role reports to the Associate Director of Admission position; and they will work with campus colleagues, prospective students and their families, high school counselors, and alumnae in recruiting students to Agnes Scott College.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Interprets college and admission policies and practices to students, parents, alumnae, staff and high school counselors, in a variety of settings including evening information programs, high school visits, college fairs, and counselor meetings.
  2. Recruits prospective students and applicants from within an assigned region and geographic territory, which could involve approximately 4 to 6 weeks of travel during the fall and/or spring depending on the recruitment territory.
  3. Conducts on-campus and off-campus interviews and information sessions to both large and small groups of prospective students, high school counselors, and other-admission related groups.
  4. Evaluates candidates for admission and scholarships and counsels students on admission and financial aid through the full enrollment cycle.
  5. Assists with planning and execution of on-campus and off-campus admission events and recruitment and yield activities.
  6. Fulfills programmatic responsibilities assigned by admission leadership based on the needs of the admission office which includes operating within approved travel and program budgets.
  7. Utilizes office-wide CRM, Slate, to facilitate in managing relationships with prospective students and counselors.
  8. Develops and maintains knowledge of the College's academic and student-focused programs.
  9. Develops and maintains expertise to conduct campus tours; goes through tour shadowing program; conducts tours whenever needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: BA/BS in related occupational field of study.

Experience: Minimum 1 year work experience in admission or a related field with other employers, plus 6 months training time at ASC, for a total of 1+ years experience.

  • Strength in public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a workplace that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage projects without supervision.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.

  • Irregular evening hours, weekend hours, and overtime are required on a regular basis, depending on events, projects and travel.
  • Occasional opportunities for remote work
  • SACAC and NACAC membership provided upon hiring.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office with occasional travel.
