EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Four years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Provide administrative and clerical support to the Special Education Director of Sec 504/ADA & Child Find and Director of Homebound/RDSPD/DHH. Anticipate needs and accomplish tasks when necessary to support department and campuses.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Answers telephones and records messages for the Directors as well as other Special Education Staff.
2. Maintains a schedule of appointments for the Director and make arrangements for conferences, training and in-services.
3. Assists the Director in designing and generating administrative staff development materials.
4. Responsible for inputting all Special Education Professional Development in District system to include monitoring registrations, upload sign in sheets and agendas to the District system, and scanning approved Request for Service form to requestor(s) for all Professional Development courses.
5. Acquires and makes all room reservations for the Special Education Department.
6. Responsible for ordering beverages on the web-based Refreshment Request System.
7. Regulates the flow of communication between entities (patrons, directors, and appropriate staff).
8. Regional Day School for the Deaf (RDSPD)- Monitors attendance/discipline/grades for out of district RDSPD students. Monitors/ maintains communication with RDSPD SSA 5 ISD's in PEIMS matters, billing issues to include processing of SSA district billing and payments with district cashier.
9. Responsible for sending Physician form to doctor's office for Homebound services, reviewing physician form with Director, and ensuring the process for Homebound Services is complete. Enters attendance and maintains log.
10. Obtains staff or agency coverage for sign language interpreter absences and extra-curricular activities. Inputs extracurricular/other assignments into calendars for Time and Effort submissions. Maintains calendar database for school year and summer coverage for interpreters. Maintains database of all students served through RDSPD.
11. Participates in problem solving in crisis situations as they arise.
12. Maintains contingency file to assure compliance with departmental deadlines.
13. Performs all administrative duties for the Directors.
14. Maintains the operation of the office in the absence of the Directors.
15. Maintains confidentiality of information.
16. Reports to work on time every day.
17. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:• Proficient in the use of computer software - Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Web Based Applications
• Working knowledge of the procedures of Special Education regulations to assist staff, parents, patrons, schools and administration
• Effective organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to type sixty (60) words per minute
• Ability to work independently without supervision
• Ability to work well with the public, administrators and school personnel and to coordinate multiple projects
• Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
