Job Summary:

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist/Administrative Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department by assisting with recruiting, onboarding, employee support, leave administration, accommodations, employee relations processes, and general administrative functions. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees and applicants while providing administrative and operational support to organizational leadership.


Job Responsibilities:

Recruitment, Onboarding, and Employment Administration (70% - 85%)

  • Work alongside hiring managers to ensure open positions are filled efficiently with qualified and missionally aligned personnel.
  • Utilize HRIS systems to manage employee data, onboarding workflows, and employment records.
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment and onboarding process including drafting and posting job openings.
  • Prepare offer letters, onboarding documents, and new hire communications while assisting with the completion and tracking of onboarding requirements, including I-9 verification.
  • Monitor onboarding progress and follow up with candidates regarding incomplete tasks or required documentation.
  • Assist hiring managers in maintaining efficient and positive candidate experiences.
  • Oversee the annual teacher contract issuance cycle, ensuring accurate, timely distribution and collection of fully executed agreements.
  • Manage background screenings for new/current employees, coaches and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date job descriptions, partnering with supervisors to reflect evolving responsibilities, qualifications, and operational needs.
  • Coordinate exit interviews and provide recommendations for improving employee retention.

Employee Relations, Support, and Performance Management (5%)

  • Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and programs for both employees and supervisors.
  • Assist with employee relations by addressing workplace issues and providing guidance to supervisors on disciplinary actions and conflict resolution.
  • Support supervisors in addressing employee performance, attendance, and conduct issues.
  • Support annual job performance reviews by supervisors.
  • Assist with documentation related to coaching, corrective action, and employee separations.
  • Participate in employee meetings related to performance concerns, accommodations, investigations, and terminations.

Leave Administration and Accommodations (5% - 10%)

  • Assist with the administration and coordination of employee leave processes, including FMLA, Washington PFML, and other protected leave programs.
  • Coordinate the interactive process for employee accommodation requests under the ADA and applicable state laws.
  • Communicate with employees regarding leave, accommodation, required documentation, and return-to-work procedures, escalating complex matters as appropriate.
  • Track leave usage, timelines, certifications, and required notices to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to develop and implement approved accommodations and transitional return-to-work arrangements.
  • Maintain confidential medical and leave-related records in accordance with applicable laws.

Policy Development and Compliance (5% - 10%)

  • Maintain familiarity with employment laws, HR policies, and regulatory requirements applicable to assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist with updating HR procedures, forms, and handbook content to support compliance with organizational standards and changing legal requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day support and guidance to employees and supervisors regarding routine policy questions and HR processes, escalating complex matters as appropriate.
  • Assist with preparing training materials, communications, and resources to support policy awareness and compliance efforts across the organization.
  • Participate in the annual review and revision process for the employee handbook and related HR documents.

Record Keeping and Documentation (5% - 10%)

  • Provide administrative support to the Business Office and leadership team as assigned.
  • Maintain HR files, forms, templates, and compliance documentation.
  • Help ensure accuracy of employee information within HRIS and related systems.
  • Coordinate meetings, schedule appointments, and assist with departmental projects.

Other Details:

  • Compensation - $20.00 - $25.00/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Schedule - Full time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week, with flexibility to establish a consistent schedule that meets both employee and organizational needs. This 12-month position follows the school calendar during the academic year, including school closures.
  • Benefits - Eligible for benefits, including medical, dental and vision. Also eligible for tuition discount.
  • Time Off - Paid time off including vacation, personal time off, and 10 paid holidays. School closures (e.g., Christmas Break, Spring Break) are generally unpaid unless work is assigned or approved by the supervisor.
  • Timeline - Position is anticipated to start in early July 2026. Initial review of applicants will begin on June 22, 2026, and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated HR experience in a mid-sized organization (50+ employees), including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, leave and accommodations, and compliance.
  • Model a life of personal commitment to Jesus Christ by exemplifying a lifestyle that honors God and actively participating in a local, Bible-believing church. Must be willing to affirm and abide by the Schools’ Statement of Faith.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and experience using Paylocity or other similar HRIS system.
  • Ability to maintain confidential employee records, handle sensitive information, and ensure accurate documentation and audit-readiness.
  • Highly organized with strong project management capability, successfully balancing competing deadlines and HR initiatives.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in job postings, applicant tracking, contracts, offer letters, employee documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach, influence, and serve employees and leaders with professionalism and tact.
  • Commitment to upholding the Christian values and mission of the school.
  • Must pass a National and Washington State Patrol background check.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
