The Assistant Purchasing Agent supports IME’s operations by managing purchasing activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services. This role collaborates with the Procurement Manager and project teams to source materials and services efficiently while optimizing costs and supporting project timelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Conduct comprehensive market analyses to identify potential suppliers and assess market trends. Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to optimize cost, quality and delivery. Present fully vetted initiatives with accurate due diligence and risk assessment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals. Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Purchase Order Management: Create, review, and process purchase orders, invoices, and other procurement-related documents as necessary. Investigate and resolve discrepancies. Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, delivery schedules, and other procurement-related documents. Track delivery schedules and communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives: Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement initiatives to improve overall procurement efficiency. Work closely with vendors to negotiate favorable pricing terms. 
  • Compliance & Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance procurement processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness. Implement best practices to streamline workflows and reduce cycle times. 
  • Industry Networking: Act as a brand ambassador for the company, promoting its values and expertise in the electrical contracting sector. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong ability to complete due diligence and risk assessment
  • Impeccable integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict management and negotiation.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to build strong, effective relationships with team members, project teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prior experience supporting Mission Critical, Data Center, or other large-sacle projects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electrical construction materials and products, inclduing electrical distrubtion equipment, switchgear, transformers, conducit, wire and cable, lighting, and related are preferred. 

Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:

  • Experience with financial systems; JDE preferred.
  • Experience with procurement software and systems.
  • High level of competency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Working knowledge in Procurement or related field, preferred. 

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Benefits Overview:

IME provides an industry-leading comprehensive benefits package.  Full-time employees are eligible to choose from a variety of healthcare coverage options, which become effective the first of the month after hire.  In addition, employees are offered a substantial amount of PTO and are immediately eligible to make contributions to a generously matched and fully vested 401k. 

Salary Range: $62,050 - $83,950

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $62,050.00/Yr. - USD $83,950.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
