Job description

Job Title: Adjunct Therapist

Location: Central Jersey Behavioral

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Adjunct Therapist aides in the design, implementation and evaluation of all Adjunct Therapy Programs (i.e. treatment planning, treatment implementation, professional development, program development and community education/referral development). 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Teaching, or Recreation
  • Knowledge of recreational, occupational, leisure and creative therapies
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills

Preferred:

  • Experience working in Psychiatry, Substance Abuse, and/or Geriatrics

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Certification in the Therapeutic/Human Services field (Music Therapist MT-BC, Art Therapist ATR-BC, Recreation Therapist CTRS)

Scheduling Requirements*:

  • Shift working, 8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Per Diem
  • *2 weekend days required to work per schedule period
  • Candidate will be required to attend 4 weeks of training 

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to Attendance and Reliability Standards. Gives proper notification for absence or tardiness as per policy
  • Assists Supervisor in development of process oriented educational groups
  • Facilitates and co-facilitates Adjunct Therapy groups
  • Assists the nursing staff in monitoring the physical, social and emotional needs of the patient
  • Completes Adjunct Therapy assessment within the appropriate timeframe
  • Completes individual discharge-oriented progress notes indicating progress towards treatment goals as identified in the assessment and treatment plans
  • Completes Adjunct Therapy Assessment adequately with including all required areas
  • Identifies appropriate treatment interventions for patient. Revises as needed based on patient’s progress
  • Assists supervisor in development of process oriented educational and therapeutic groups
  • Provides group therapy and as needed individual treatment sessions under the supervision of AT Director
  • Participates in treatment planning process of individual patients on STC unit. Participates for SBU and Voluntary Unit as needed
  • Inventories all equipment and tools at end of each session
  • Documents individual patient's response to therapeutic groups provided
  • Runs clinical groups on STC in compliance with regulatory agency requirements
  • Assist in Identifying, purchasing and maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies
