PART-TIME MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Foundations Recovery Network (FRN) is the premier provider of integrated treatment for co-occurring addiction and mental health concerns, offering residential and outpatient services nationwide.  Located in the serene forest foothills of northern Georgia, Black Bear Lodge is a 144- bed place of solace and healing for those individuals suffering from addiction and mental health issues. We are a residential treatment center offering a comprehensive, integrated program that addresses the needs of the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Qualifications

Position Summary

Provides Addiction Medicine expertise and oversight to patients, the Medical Department and Black Bear Treatment Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs routine comprehensive clinical/psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacologic treatment of patients at admission and ongoing, completing documentation of all evaluations and treatment visits on the day of the session and according to FRN documentation requirements.
  • Participates in treatment planning team meetings and after-care planning.
  • Ensures timely meetings with clients and attendant timely documentation of related notes.
  • Monitors lab levels and specialty tests.
  • Acts as CLIA Lab director and is responsible for ensuring that the lab meets all applicable ClIA regulations. CLIA training/testing of employees may be delegated to the following employees: CNO, DON, Nurse Manager, and Charge Nurses
  • Supervises medication monitoring practices.
  • Supervises medicated withdrawal procedures, as appropriate, for patient population.
  • Practices according to industry standards for psychopharmacologic treatment.
  • Communicates with attending physicians, psychiatrists, etc. regarding status and treatment of patients.
  • Reviews reports of accidents or unusual incidents and makes recommendations for program modifications.
  • Provides consultation on matters regarding medical care, standards of care, surveillance, and infection control.
  • Supervises medical treatment planning processes for patients.
  • Provides input into clinical staffing.
  • Provides ongoing training for medical and other staff.
  • On-Call and Weekend Services: On-call Providers rotate throughout the week, and each provider will be on-call at least one weekend per month. Daily on-call hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day.  Weekend on-call hours are from Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning.  When the provider is on-call for the weekend, he/she will get a week day off the following week.  The On-Call schedule is based on availability and scheduled around days off that the provider requests ahead of time.

Education and Experience

  • Unencumbered Medical degree and license to practice in state of Georgia required.

Must be board-certified/eligible in psychiatry and or addiction medicine.

  • Certification in addiction from the American Society of Addiction Medicine strongly preferred.
  • Must have expertise and experience treating patients with mental disorders and addictive disorders.
  • Supervisory and Management experience a plus.
