  • Education: A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program is standard for entering the field as of 2026.
  • Licensure: Valid state physical therapy license and current CPR/BLS certification are mandatory.
  • Experience: Many employers prefer at least one year of professional clinical experience, often specifically in acute care or home health settings.
  • Mobility: A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance are typically required due to the travel nature of the job.

  • Clinical Reasoning: Ability to adapt clinical protocols to a home environment with limited specialized equipment.
