Job description

The opportunity

The role sits within a team dedicated to supporting and working with the Real Assets and Portfolio Management teams. The role provides finance support with respect to strategy, performance, transactions, governance, reporting and analysis, while also working directly with partners within deal strategies to manage deliverables and processes as required. They will be responsible for the accuracy and reasonability of downstream data and will maintain a best-in-class partnership with our front office teams. The Senior Associate will report to the Manager and strive to drive continuous improvement across our service model. This individual will contribute to the success of the team, divisional and enterprise-wide initiatives by identifying opportunities for operational excellence and delivering impactful solutions.

Who you'll work with

  • Work in a sub-team within the larger Private Assets Oversight team within Finance focused on Real Asset Finance support, while also working/liaising with other stakeholders in Finance primarily Valuations, DDA, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Risk and Performance teams, as well as Legal and Tax.

  • Primarily support all our Real Assets and Portfolio Management teams across the international portfolio

  • Work with partners and external providers within the various deal portfolios as required

What you'll do

Strategy, Performance and Analysis

  • Support in the understanding of the results delivered by partners/third parties to provide meaningful reporting to Deal Teams/Portfolio Management, enabling articulation of variances to budgeted expectations at an investment level and attribute/explain performance on a quarterly basis in line with internal timelines.

  • Support Deal Teams and Portfolio Management in providing quality data and analysis to enable strategic decision making and to understand performance drivers, including ad hoc requests as needed.

    • Support in the delivery of key financial information ingestion and aggregation across the Real Asset portfolio as part of the construction Investments Insight Platform and the Enterprise Data initiatives

    • Collaborate with internal teams, including valuations, tax, treasury, risk management, legal, and operations, to ensure the successful execution and management of real asset investments and required reporting

    • Support the mid-year and year-end valuations process, calculating final market values and working with Deal Teams and Portfolio Management to align on final values reported for the purpose of performance.

    • Support the delivery of various strategic initiatives to improve enterprise-wide data accessibility for ease of data aggregation and analysis, including working with EOD and PSG to deliver on any technology based initiatives, and ensure alignment with the wider finance and enterprise data management solutions

Partner and 3rd Party Management

  • Build and manage relationships with our investment partners and third-party service providers, including external administrators, to ensure effective execution of investments and operational performance.

  • Ensure Partner deliverables and processes meet requirements/needs of the Real Assets team and to enable accurate and reliable reporting and analysis to assist decision making

  • Oversee and review cash flow processes (calls/distributions) from deal structures to ensure appropriateness/adequacy

Transaction Support

  • Support onboarding of new Partners as required to ensure consistent and appropriate processes and deliverables are documented/rolled out as part of any agreements/engagements

  • Support cash flow management for acquisitions, disposals and other ongoing calls/distributions, ensuring cashflows are correctly treated/recorded at both the portfolio and OTPP levels

  • Responsibility for internal operational requirements with respect to transactions, including management and delivery of cash transactions, internal structure set-up and maintenance and deal flow as required by the underlying portfolio companies.

  • Responsible for the delivery of accurate data utilized by OTPPs book of record, performance measurement, risk analytics and regulatory compliance

Governance

  • Support the review of Controlled Investment's annual audited accounts in line with required Portfolio Company Governance
    Support with respect to OTPP audit and internal audit requirements

Reporting

  • Support the preparation of various quarterly/bi-annual internal reporting requirements for both Finance and Portfolio Management in line with required deadlines and quality standards

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Assets, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Professional designation preferred CPA, CFA or CAIA

  • Solid understanding of real asset markets, valuation techniques, financial structures, capital activity (calls/distributions) and other relevant operational concepts.

  • Good understanding of data concepts and the ability to interpret and work with data effectively

  • Strong accounting knowledge, including the ability to review financial statements, understand cash flow analysis, and work with accounting teams to ensure proper financial reporting

  • Strong quantitative and computer skills (Excel, Data Visualization tools), including an understanding of database concepts.

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems and recommend solutions.

  • Proven experience in managing relationships with third-party service providers, including asset managers, property managers, and consultants.

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in real asset finance, investment analysis, real asset private equity or other private investments, with a focus on institutional investments.

Pay-for-performance with base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance. The Base Salary range for this level is as follows: $105,000 - $155,000. Individual compensation and placement of this role in the range is based on different factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, demonstrated competencies, and internal equity as they relate to the role.
