Position: Galaxy Activities Assistant
Effective Date: June 22, 2026
Schedule / Hours:
  • 7.5 hours per day
  • 8:45 AM - 4:15 PM
  • 4 days per week

Pay: Class II: $17.26 - $22.50 per hour
Benefits: Due to the length of the assignment it is not eligible for benefits
Position Summary:
The Galaxy Activities Assistant works directly with students and supports the daily implementation of games, group activities, transitions, and overall program engagement. This role helps create a safe, active, and welcoming environment for participants by supporting the Site Lead and Activity Lead with daily programming, student supervision, and program logistics.
Required Experience / Qualifications:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with school-age or middle school youth
  • Ability to actively engage and supervise students in a positive and supportive manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively with program staff and follow direction from site leadership
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for youth

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working with youth from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience supporting youth with developmental, physical, behavioral, or social-emotional needs
  • Experience leading or assisting with age-appropriate activities such as games, sports, team-building, arts, recreation, or enrichment activities
  • Multilingual skills, including Spanish, Somali, Pashto, or Dari, preferred

Responsibilities:
  • Support and engage students during daily Galaxy activities, games, and group programming
  • Assist with supervision during activities, transitions, meals, and other program times
  • Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants
  • Support the Activity Lead with preparing, leading, and cleaning up activities
  • Reinforce program expectations and support positive student behavior
  • Assist with setting up materials, supplies, and activity spaces for daily programming
  • Build positive relationships with students and serve as a supportive role model
  • Communicate student needs or concerns to the Site Lead and Activity Lead
  • Support attendance, transitions, and other daily program routines as assigned
  • Assist with special events, enrichment opportunities, and field trip days as needed
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Bloomington Community Education leadership
