Lead Chaperone, Talent Search 61 North
Essential Job Functions
  • Supervise and support regular chaperones in ensuring student safety, engagement, and participation
  • Act as the primary point of contact for overnight supervision and dorm-related concerns
  • Oversee camper check-ins, headcounts, and behavioral management strategies
  • Assist in planning and executing camp activities, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to schedules.
  • Communicate with program leadership student needs, safety issues, or other concerns
  • Enforce all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a secure experience for all participants
  • Handle emergency situations and ensure all safety protocols are followed
  • Chaperone educational and cultural activities/ field trips
  • Serve as a mentor to Talent Search participants
  • Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications
  • Candidate must be at least a college Junior with a GPA of 3.0
  • Two (2) years' experience working with at-risk/disadvantaged students

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in youth leadership, camp coordination, or student mentoring, preferably in an educational or summer camp setting
  • Strong decision-making, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to guide and support regular chaperones in fulfilling their responsibilities
  • Ability to supervise, engage, and provide a safe and supportive environment for campers
  • Ability to enforce camp rules, maintain discipline, and respond effectively to emergencies
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work with fellow chaperones, camp staff, and program director
