Overview of Position This position is assigned to teach the ASB Leadership course. GENERAL SUMMARY This is a stipend role where the position does not hold a classroom teaching assignment while serving as, and performing duties of, the activity coordinator. Responsibilities include functioning as athletic director, hiring coaches, ordering equipment and supplies, setting up and supervising athletic events and activities, supervising student government, coordinating advisors for clubs, and overseeing student activities.
Essential Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Coordinates student activities and athletics, schedules events; arranges for supervision and adult coverage of school sponsored events; assists in coordinating and planning use of fields and facilities; assists in scheduling officials. 2.
Promotes and fosters student participation in school activities; provides for student leadership programs; supervises student government activities. 3. Oversees Associated Student Body (ASB) activities; ensures compliance with ASB rules, regulations and procedures.
4. Oversees a wide variety of clubs, sports boosters, cheerleading, fundraising and other school activities; coordinates with club and class advisors and administrators; enforces rules and regulations; works with students on a wide variety of activities. 5.
Determines coaching needs in building; recruits for, interviews and recommends coaches for all sports as needed; assists coaches and activity supervisors in administration of sports; meets with coaches to discuss concerns and resolve problems; assists principal with orientation, instruction and observation of coaches and activity supervisors. 6. Administers athletics and activities budgets; identifies and communicates budget needs; approves and tracks expenditures; accounts for purchase, use, storage and inventory of athletic and activity equipment.
7. Assists coaches in determining equipment and supply needs; orders equipment and supplies; verifies receipt of and distributes materials and supplies; resolves problems with vendors as necessary. 8.
Monitors the care, cleaning, repairing, storing, inventory and destruction of all athletic and activity equipment supplies; monitors the return of school equipment; establishes and ensures adherence to procedures for return of equipment and supplies; maintains accurate equipment records. 9. Supervises student eligibility requirements; supervises the preparation and publishing of student eligibility.
10. Maintains liaison with other activity coordinators; maintains current knowledge of practices, trends, issues, directions, rules and regulations governing school athletics and activities; enforces league, District and W AA regulations. 11.
Facilitates the development of goals and objectives for activities and athletics, consistent with District-approved policy and procedures; assesses effectiveness; recommends and implements improvements and special projects; serves as member of building instruction council. 12. Attends appropriate athletic meetings and activities; supervises school events as needed.
OTHER FUNCTIONS Schedules transportation as necessary to meet athletic and activity commitments. Performs a wide variety of operational support and coordination of activities and athletics, such as assisting in securing maintenance services, disseminating athletic literature, coordinating athletic publicity, certifying athletes and cheerleaders, securing personnel to operate athletic contest, distributing athletic passes, authorizing athletic awards and related matters. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

Typical Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Bachelor's degree and valid teacher's certification, and successful teaching experience.
Desirable Master's degree and administrative credentials; First aid and CPR certification Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated proficiency in effective communication. Ability to coordinate events and activities. Knowledge of the laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing student athletics and activities.
Demonstrated knowledge of student safety issues and instruction in sports. Ability to adapt and modify techniques for effectiveness. Ability to promote and encourage positive conduct.
Ability to research, plan, develop and implement lessons. Ability to provide and maintain an effective learning environment. Ability to supervise and instruct student behavior.
Skill in modeling effective behavior. Skill in organization and time management. Ability to maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of fundraising Ability to administer budgets and order equipment and supplies. Ability to work independently. Ability to work cooperatively and in teams.

Effective crisis intervention and resolution skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, administrators, coaches, officials and the public.
Licenses/Special Requirements Valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate. Valid Washington State driver's license.
