** This position is located at ARMA Elementary School**

Position Summary

This position provides goal-directed support and solution-focused interventions to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the consumer’s individualized treatment plan. This position also facilitates services that are designed to assist the consumer with compensating for or eliminating functional deficits and interpersonal and/or environmental barriers associated with their mental illness. At times this position will provide services to consumers who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis with services designed to interrupt and/or ameliorate a crisis experience. This position will report to the Discovery Program Coordinator. 


As medically necessary, this position will aid in the form of direct support, supervision, and/or queueing so that the consumer performs the task by him/herself. Most contacts will occur in community locations where the consumer lives, works, attends school and/or socializes. 


Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Required to follow dress code policies of any alternative work locations, including but not limited to schools, jails, courts, detention centers, other community partners, etc. 
  • Assist in assessment of needs assigned consumers
  • Assist consumers in accessing community-based resources
  • Assist consumers in tasks related to treatment plan goals
  • Always maintain close physical proximity with assigned consumer during group sessions
  • Assist client to successfully participate in group sessions and activities and assist program facilitator to successfully intervene  with the client
  • Participate in activities to role model appropriate behavior
  • Teach, train and provide appropriate interventions and role models for appropriate life skills in-group settings for individual clients.
  • Complete annual trainings 
  • Complete16 KDHE approved CEU's annually 
  • Attend meetings and supervision as directed by supervisor
  • Complete and maintain proper documentation of time and services within 24 hours 
  • Services allowed for this position:
  • Psychosocial Rehabilitation – Individual H2017, Group H2017 TJ
  • Crisis Intervention – Basic (Attendant) H2011, Intermediate (Bachelor) H2011 HK
  • Attendant Care – T1019 HE
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Obtain Certification for Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training. MOAB is an in-depth training program that teaches individuals how to recognize, reduce, and manage violent and aggressive behavior. Training is provided.
  • MOAB training requires controlled movements, body positioning, and the ability to perform physical holds and restraint techniques.
  • The focus of MOAB training is to use techniques that can be effectively applied by employees of varying physical capabilities while minimizing potential harm to both the individual being restrained and the trained themselves.
  • Must complete KDHE required trainings and orientation prior to the delivery of services
Requirements:

Credential and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Pass pre-employment background checks, Fingerprint, and State of Kansas Adult/Child Abuse 
  • Certification in the State of Kansas to provide this service is required
  • Experience working with behaviorally challenged children with a mental health diagnosis preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool children preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Be able to get on the floor rise without assistance
  • Have full mobility in both arms and shoulders
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
