Job description

Job Summary The Daycare Assistant provides daily care of children (infant - school age) in a nurturing, clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Hours from 2:15pm - 6:15pm or later Responsibilities Responsible for the care of registered children, including feeding, interacting, reading, and engaging in age-appropriate activities. Maintains a clean and safe environment, ensures handwashing and sick child protocols are followed, toys and furniture are sanitized, and bathroom facilities are cleaned after each shift.

Ensures responsive communication with parents/guardians in all aspects of their children's well-being. Documents any concerns or issues with a child's wellbeing and communicates to supervisor. Adheres to all childcare policies and procedures, laws and regulations as applicable.

Executes Active-Net transactions and inputs and maintains accurate data in Excel. Assists with special events (Parents Night Out, Castle Cleaning, etc.) as needed. Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned

Qualifications Education and Experience Minimum of 15 years of age American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to complete certification within 30 days of hire Experience working with children under six years old preferred Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong work ethic and ability to adhere to all childcare protocols and health/safety standards and procedures Patient, reliable, and responsible team player Desire and ability to provide care to children of various age groups Ability to work a varied schedule including days, nights and weekends Ability to communicate effectively and responsively with fellow staff members and parents/guardians Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity Equipment, Mental & Physical Demands EQUIPMENT USED Computer Telephone MENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS Mental Effort Attention to safety standards, procedures, and practices Attentiveness and responsiveness to children/parents or guardians Physical Requirements Bending, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and running Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
