Adjunct- Supervisor Dentist
Salary: $55.00-$70.00 per hour
I. Position Purpose
At Hocking College, our students are the priority. It is therefore imperative that every Hocking College team member, regardless of job title or duties, be responsible, first and foremost, for assisting students in every way.
Under the direct supervision of the Dental Hygiene Program Director, the Adjunct Supervising Dentist performs the following functions.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
• Reviews and evaluates patient health histories
• Approves patient dentitions for sealant application, silver diamine fluoride placement, and curodont placement.
• Orders, approves, and interprets Dental X-Rays
• Provides Dental Screenings for Head Start, Military, and Developmental Disabilities patients
• Follows HIPAA guidelines
• Complies with Infection control, OSHA and Hazardous Waste safety guidelines
• Identifies referrals for patients
• Prescribes/dispenses preventative medications as needed
• Available to answer questions regarding health history, pathology, and clinical treatment
• Assists in management of medical emergencies
• Serves as a resource for faculty/students regarding patient care
• Serves as the supervising dentist during CDCA ADEX Board Examinations and is available during CODA site visits as requested.
• Provides state-mandated supervision for applicable dental procedures
• May administer local anesthesia and provide direct patient care in accordance with Ohio
Revised Code and institutional policy
• Participate in faculty/staff meetings/calibration meetings (as requested by the Program
Director)
• Complies with all Ohio State Dental Board (OSDB) regulations governing supervising
dentists in an educational setting (Ohio State Dental Practice Act)
• Supports and maintains compliance with CODA accreditation standards
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean, Program Manager, and/or department chair
III. Additional Traits/Abilities

• Perform additional duties or job functions that are required and deemed necessary by
Program Director
• Maintains student and patient confidentiality
IV. Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills
• Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree is required
• Unencumbered dental license in the State of Ohio is required
• Current Health Care Provider, CPR training is required
• Clinical teaching experience in a dental hygiene/ dental program preferred
• Experience as a supervising dentist in a teaching environment preferred
