What does an acquisitions team do?

An Acquisitions Team is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing assets or properties for a company. This can involve real estate purchases, business mergers, intellectual property, or other strategic investments. The team analyzes opportunities, negotiates deals, and ensures that acquisitions align with the organization’s goals. They often work closely with legal, finance, and executive teams to complete transactions and integrate new assets. Their work is crucial for company growth and expansion.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a member of an acquisitions team, and why are they important?

To thrive on an Acquisitions Team, you need strong analytical abilities, financial acumen, and a background in business, finance, or real estate, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with financial modeling software, due diligence platforms, and CRM systems is typically required. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills help you stand out when sourcing and closing deals. These skills ensure effective deal evaluation, seamless transactions, and successful integration of acquisitions to drive organizational growth.

Are you ready to love your job?
The adventure begins right here, with you, at SITA.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to support SITA for Aircraft's inorganic growth agenda, working closely with the central Merger and Acquisition (M&A) team, which leads due diligence and deal execution. This role brings structure, pace, and clarity to our M&A workstreams. You will act as the operational backbone of our M&A projects: coordinating business-unit contributors, tracking actions and risks, preparing leadership materials, and ensuring the central M&A team gets what they need from the business, on time and in the right format. The role requires strong project management, sound business judgment, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to turn complex commercial, product, and operational inputs into clear updates for senior leadership.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

Support the M&A pipeline:

  • Help maintain and enrich the pipeline of acquisition and partnership opportunities aligned with the SITA for Aircraft (SFA) strategy.
  • Contribute to market scans and initial screening of potential targets.
  • Keep a structured view of priorities, status, and next steps for SFA leadership.

Run M&A project management of Business Unit-side workstreams:

  • Build and maintain workplans, timelines, actions, risks, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate SFA contributors across Product, Finance, Commercial, Technology, and Operations.
  • Ensure clear ownership, follow-up, and decision tracking throughout the deal lifecycle.

Support the central M&A team on due diligence:

  • Act as SFA point of coordination for due diligence requests from the central M&A team and external advisors.
  • Organize product, commercial, technical, and operational input; prepare agendas, information packs, and target-facing sessions.
  • Track relevant findings, open points, and action items.

Contribute to business case and synergy work:

  • Work with Finance and Product leaders to gather input on revenue opportunities, cost implications, investment needs, and synergies.
  • Help pressure-test assumptions to keep the business case fact-based

Prepare executive communication:

  • Create clear, concise materials for SFA leadership, M&A reviews, and board-level discussions.

Support integration planning:

  • Help frame early integration hypotheses during due diligence.
  • Coordinate the handover from due diligence to integration planning, ensuring continuity for customers, employees, products, and operations.

Qualifications

ABOUT YOUR SKILLS

  • 7+ years of experience in project management, corporate development, M&A support, strategy, consulting, or complex cross-functional programs.
  • Aviation industry knowledge, preferably in airline operations, SaaS, B2B software
  • Strong project management skills in senior-stakeholder, multi-workstream environments, with a track record of running complex programs end-to-end; project management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent) is valued.
  • Excellent understanding of the M&A lifecycle: pipeline, screening, due diligence, transaction, and integration - enough to be a strong partner to the central M&A team, without owning due diligence. Prior exposure to due diligence support, PMO, or post-merger integration coordination is a plus.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems into clear workplans, actions, and decisions.
  • Comfort working with financial and business case inputs; able to challenge assumptions constructively, with an MBA or equivalent business background welcome.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce concise, board-ready materials and operate effectively with investment banks, consultants, and legal advisors.
  • Strong collaboration and ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to operate with confidence and credibility with C-suite leaders and influence decisions across a broad range of cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Product, PMO, Legal, Finance).
