Job description

Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee-owned civil engineering, land surveying and landscape architecture firm, is now accepting applications for Class III and IV Inspector positions with the goal of long-term, seasonal construction employment with Acorn.
The Class III Chief Inspector and Class IV Resident Inspector positions will be responsible for single or multiple projects. We are looking for an Inspector who is experienced in one or more of the following specialties: roadway, bridge, marine facilities, rail facilities, or building inspections. There are opportunities throughout the state of Maine which may require overnight and weekend work, or overnight travel.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Perform inspection of contractor work on roadway, bridge, marine facilities, rail facilities, or building projects.
• Supervise and coordinate field inspection support staff assigned to the project.
• Complete daily inspection reports
• Perform or coordinate materials testing
• Assure general compliance with DOT standards and specifications
• Review project plans and document Contractor compliance
• Prepare construction closeout documents
• Other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• A minimum of 4 years MaineDOT inspection experience
• NETTCP paving certification required
• ACI concrete cert preferred
• Knowledge of Maine DOT standards
• Work is mostly outdoors; and candidates will be on their feet most of the day
• Valid driver's license; daily use of candidate's personal vehicle required; mileage reimbursed
