Summary

Moffitt Cancer Center, Florida's only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking an exceptional Clinical Veterinarian to join our growing Comparative Medicine Core. This is an opportunity for an ACLAM board-certified or board-eligible veterinarian to provide expert veterinary care and oversight that supports groundbreaking cancer research while advancing animal welfare, regulatory compliance, and scientific excellence.

This position will be based at the Speros Moffitt Discovery & Innovation Institute, a state-of-the-art research campus designed to accelerate scientific discoveries and transform cancer care for patients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

Build a meaningful career where animal care, research, and impact come together.

  • Deliver expert clinical, surgical, and emergency care for laboratory animal species
  • Lead daily rounds, diagnostics, treatment planning, and animal health monitoring
  • Partner with researchers to support study goals while upholding the highest animal welfare standards
  • Oversee anesthesia, analgesia, surgery support, and post-operative care
  • Help drive regulatory compliance, IACUC protocol review, facility oversight, and health surveillance programs
  • Mentor veterinary technicians and research staff while helping shape policies and best practices

What We're Looking For

Required

  • DVM (or equivalent) from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
  • Active U.S. veterinary license with ability to obtain Florida licensure within six months
  • USDA accreditation, or ability to obtain within six months
  • Completion of an ACLAM residency and ACLAM board certification or eligibility
  • At least two years of laboratory animal medicine training and experience
  • Strong knowledge of research regulations and excellent collaboration skills

Preferred

  • ACLAM certified (Diplomate) with experience supporting complex biomedical research programs
  • Experience in AAALAC-accredited research environments
  • Interest in mentoring veterinary and research staff
  • Passion for translational and cancer-focused research
