SCOPE

Our Real Estate Valuation and Advisory Services (REVS) team is excitingly recruiting for a new VP who will be a fully integrated member of our engagement teams. Conduct market and financial research regarding real estate supply, demand, pricing and investment parameters; including in-market interviews, data gathering and confirmation of comparable transactions as well as utilizing data subscription sources

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and train a team of Analysts and Associates working a diverse range of real estate asset classes analyzing both real estate debt, equity and asset valuation
  • Manage client relationships, including leading financial due diligence sessions, managing deliverables and supporting business development efforts
  • Leading the valuation review process by guiding the valuation of real estate debt, equity and asset valuations and reviewing complex financial models (e.g., for specific securities or transaction structures);
  • Presenting valuation analyses and conclusions internally and externally;
  • Acquire knowledge of the use and capabilities of subscription data sources, e.g., CoStar, SNL, CBRE-EA, and mine data from the sources efficiently
  • Collect, manipulate and analyze property, market and financial data, including:
    • Analyze historic property operating statements
    • Abstract and analyze leases
    • Prepare complex cash flow models using Excel and/or ARGUS software
    • Analyze available data to estimate revenues, costs and rates of return
    • Estimate property and portfolio values
    • Ensure that all work product is accurate and complete
    • Prepare reports and presentations to team and clients, including graphic and written sections

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The environment at Houlihan Lokey is aggressive and entrepreneurial and, as such, rewards Vice Presidents with substantial responsibility. The ideal candidate should be motivated, creative, commercially driven, and possess strong skills in overall project management, leading, managing, performing financial analysis, and business development. Candidates must have a strong knowledge of real estate finance and valuation. Candidates must also have strengths in real estate financial theory, analytical capabilities, and verbal and written communication skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in real estate or business administration or other related academic major with essential classes in finance, accounting and economics
  • Approximately seven plus years of real estate industry experience demonstrating solid real estate analytical capabilities
  • Demonstrated real estate analytical skills, including ability to identify and analyze comparable property sales and leases
  • Knowledge of real estate valuation techniques
  • Strong technical modeling skills with Excel and ARGUS software and ability to model property performance and waterfalls from property financial statements, debt instruments, ownership documents, budget and leases combined with market data
  • Knowledge of commercial property lease terms including expense treatments and adjustments to yield comparable rent amounts
  • Thorough competence in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Strong business writing and presentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of, or progress toward, real estate industry certifications and licenses, e.g., MAI, CCIM, certified general real estate appraiser, broker, CPA, etc.
  • Willingness to travel

Houlihan Lokey is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive total compensation package, which may include other components such as discretionary incentive compensation. The firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible salary range for this role at the time of posting is:

$160,000 - $200,000

Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.
