About the Role
We are seeking a Manager of Accreditation to join our Inspection, Laboratory, and Related (ILR) business unit. This role is ideal for a technical professional with hands-on experience in inspection, mechanical testing, or electrical testing, along with a strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17020 inspection body quality systems and/or ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory quality systems.
As a Manager of Accreditation, you will manage accreditation activities, lead assessments, work directly with clients and technical experts, and help ensure the integrity and effectiveness of ANAB's accreditation processes. This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise while working with organizations and professionals across industries and around the world.
This position is preferably based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but remote work will be considered for the right candidate. Candidates must reside within the United States. Overnight travel is required, including both domestic and international travel.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accreditation programs and customer relationships, ensuring high-quality service and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead accreditation assessments of inspection bodies and/or testing laboratories.
  • Serve as a technical resource throughout the accreditation process.
  • Evaluate assessment results and documentation to support sound accreditation decisions.
  • Ensure the integrity, consistency, and impartiality of ANAB's accreditation processes.
  • Collaborate with laboratories, inspection bodies, regulatory bodies, assessors, and industry experts to advance conformity assessment practices.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients and other stakeholders throughout the accreditation process.
  • Monitor accreditation activities and timelines to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Stay current with applicable standards, regulations, accreditation requirements, and industry developments.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of ANAB's accreditation processes and services.
  • Participate in internal audits and external evaluations of ANAB, as applicable.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Skills
Success in this role requires a combination of technical expertise, sound judgment, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge and practical experience in inspection, mechanical testing, electrical testing, or a related technical field.
  • Accreditation & Quality Systems: Understanding of applicable accreditation standards, quality systems, and conformity assessment principles, including ISO/IEC 17020 and/or ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Assessment & Auditing: Ability to plan, conduct, and evaluate assessments and effectively identify and communicate findings.
  • Project & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple accreditation activities, projects, deadlines, and priorities while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex issues, exercise sound judgment, and develop effective solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to thoroughly review technical and accreditation documentation and identify areas requiring attention.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to lead assessment teams and work effectively with clients, assessors, staff, regulators, and industry experts.
  • Communication & Diplomacy: Strong written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences while demonstrating respect, decisiveness, and tact.
  • Integrity & Impartiality: Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, impartiality, and the integrity of the accreditation process.
  • Adaptability: Ability to respond effectively to evolving standards, regulatory requirements, client needs, and business priorities.
  • Technology: Comfortable learning and working across a variety of electronic business systems and software platforms.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific or technical field. Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • 5-10 years of technical experience in inspection, mechanical testing, electrical testing, laboratory operations, or a related field.
  • Experience with quality assurance and/or quality management systems, particularly ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17025, or related standards.
  • Experience managing projects and working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Assessment, auditing, or accreditation experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading teams, projects, assessments, or other technical activities is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Comfortable learning and working across a variety of electronic business systems and software platforms used for day-to-day operations, records management, and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to manage priorities with minimal direction and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight travel.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary range: $76,800 - $95,900, based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
