Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely application of customer payments to outstanding invoices, managing a team of cash applications specialists, and ensuring the integrity of accounts receivable balances. This role leads day-to-day cash posting operations, resolves complex payment discrepancies and unapplied cash, and partners with Collections, Credit and Treasury to drive process improvements. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of AR systems and reconciliation processes, and a track record of improving accuracy and efficiency in high-volume payment environments.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage and assist with all areas of the cash application process (high volume level of transactions) and follow up on wire-transfers to ensure payments are promptly posted to the customer account.

  • Provide leadership and manage the daily activates of the departments' staff.

  • Manage a team of outsourced cash application specialists ensuring proper posting and cash application to the Company's records.

  • Balance cash daily and facilitate the month end closing process providing data and monthly reports.

  • Review supporting journal entries for accuracy.

  • Manage the A/R Confirmations process and assist with the various Internal/External Audits.

  • Invoicing to customers via email, fax or regular mail.

  • Assist in the assessment and maintenance of internal controls, identifying control gaps and recommending improvements within assigned process areas.

  • Support quarterly, annual, and ad hoc internal and external audit activities, including preparation of supporting documentation.

  • Perform ad hoc projects as requested by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from a four-year college or university.

  • 6-8 years related experience

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system preferred

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies

  • Strong attention to details is of paramount importance in this role

  • Diplomacy and ability to deal with difficult situations

  • Excellent Oral & Written Communication Skills

  • Solid Microsoft Office skills (Word & Excel) V-lookup and Pivot tables (Macros a+)

  • AI tool implementation and usage skills in the job function preferred

  • Attitude towards work and timeliness in completing daily tasks

  • Sense of urgency to get it done required Relationship Management

  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment
