Job description

We are seeking an Accountant I to join an established finance and accounting team in Modesto. This role provides hands-on exposure across general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, AP/AR, budgeting, and audit support.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including payments and collections
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Analyze financial data and manage employee and business expenses
  • Partner with department leaders to track expenses and support effective resource allocation
  • Prepare schedules, reports, and documentation for external audits
  • Assist with financial statements used for management and tax reporting
  • Support business tax return preparation and compliance with applicable regulations


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 3+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with accounting ERP systems; ABS experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing responsibilities
