Job description

Donohue & Associates is seeking an Accounting Support Specialist to join our growing engineering firm. In this role you will provide accounting and administrative support to our accounting and finance team by assisting with project accounting, billing, accounts payable/receivable, reporting, records management, and other accounting and administrative functions. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced accounting professionals and learn the accounting processes that support engineering projects throughout the Midwest.
This position is ideal for an early-career accounting professional or recent graduate with an associate degree in accounting who is eager to build a career in a professional services environment. The in-office position is located in Donohue's corporate office in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day accounting and administrative support to the accounting/finance team.
  • Assist with project setup, maintenance, and closeout in the project accounting system.
  • Support project billing by gathering supporting documentation, maintaining billing files, and organizing records.
  • Maintain project accounting files, including agreements, amendments, task orders, subconsultant invoices, monthly invoices, certificates of insurance, and other billing documentation.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Provide backup support for employee expense reimbursements, project setup, project billing, and other accounting functions.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and assist with documenting accounting procedures.
  • Respond to employee, client, and vendor inquiries, and assist with pre-qualification requirements.
  • Perform other accounting, project, and administrative support duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate or higher degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or office experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle financial information with discretion.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, client-focused approach.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

An employee-owned engineering consulting firm since 1997, Donohue & Associates has multiple offices across the upper Midwest. We work in multi-discipline teams to provide municipal and industrial clients with client-focused services for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. Engineering News-Record ranks Donohue among the Top 25 Wastewater Treatment Plant Design Firms, and our innovative design teams consistently receive awards for engineering excellence.
Donohue offers a competitive wage and comprehensive benefits package, including:
  • Industry-unique monthly profit-sharing plan
  • Robust 401(k) plan with company contribution after 1 year of service
  • Flexible work schedules around core hours
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSAs)
  • Discretionary annual bonuses
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (if classified to work 30 or more hours/week)
  • Paid time off and company holidays (pro-rated based on part-time status)
  • Short- and long-term disability/life insurance (if classified to work 30 or more hours/week)

The anticipated pay range for this position is $20-$30/hour. Actual compensation will depend on education, experience, expertise, and organizational needs.
At Donohue, you'll find a collaborative environment where your contributions directly influence our success, and yours.
Donohue is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
