Job description

The Driver Payroll Processor plays a critical part in maintaining accurate payroll records, resolving discrepancies, and ensures the weekly/biweekly payroll process is carried out in an accurate and timely manner using sound management principles and practices.
Responsibilities
  • Point of contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Performs complex technical duties in the processing and preparation of processing payrolls.
  • Processes, codes, enters and retrieves confidential payroll data; processes special payroll transactions.
  • ⁠Assist in preparing data for internal or external audits, ensuring accuracy and availability of required information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data, protecting sensitive organizational and personally identifiable information.
  • Prepares, processes and maintains payroll documents.
  • Responsible for setting up weekly payroll folders and saving documentation accordingly.
  • Calculates and prepares retro pay adjustments submitted by Fleet Teams and Operations.
  • Conducts system review prior to processing the weekly final payroll.
  • Responsible for processing transportation management systems payroll.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure accuracy in driver payments.
  • Assists with payment processing for owner-operators, ensuring settlements are accurate based on contractual agreements.
  • Balance batches created in GP, this will include items such as minpay, vacation, tuition, and bonuses.
  • Assist with escalated driver phone calls and emails.
  • May assist with training other team members on current and new processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of current payroll software.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Organized and effective under pressure and accountable for results.
  • Self-motivated with sound reasoning abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education/Experiences
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar field required. 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
  • 3+ years of payroll/accounting experience required.
  • 2+ years of customer experience required.
  • Previous transportation experience preferred.
