Job description

The Role

Bottomline Technologies is looking for a motivated Tax Accountant to join our corporate accounting team supporting North American and corporate operations. This role is ideal for an earlycareer tax or accounting professional who wants handson experience, exposure to a variety of tax filings, and the opportunity to grow within a collaborative, fastpaced team. You'll work closely with experienced accounting and tax professionals, build practical tax skills, and take on increasing responsibility as you develop in the role.

Location: This is a hybrid role based in Portsmouth, NH.

Work Authorization
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a fulltime basis without restriction. Visa sponsorship or transfers are not available for this position.

How you'll contribute

  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation and reporting of North American sales tax activity, including coordination with Avalara
  • Review sales tax returns prepared by Avalara and prepare manual or amended filings when needed
  • Maintain sales and use tax exemption certificates using Avalara Exemption Certificate Management (ECM)
  • Track missing or expired exemption certificates and communicate with the A/R team customers to obtain updates
  • Support customer sales tax inquiries in partnership with A/R and Invoicing teams
  • Research tax questions and help document tax positions under guidance from senior team members
  • Stay current on sales tax law changes and emerging trends
  • Support GST/VAT refund requests by gathering required documentation
  • Assist with various state and federal filings, such as business licenses, personal property tax, and unclaimed property
  • Contribute to special projects and ongoing improvements within the tax team
