Job description

Our Finance & Accounting Team seeks a Technical Accounting Senior Manager, to lead review of complex transactions and provide accounting guidance to various stakeholders. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of current U.S. GAAP, an ability to research and document complex technical accounting topics, strong communication and analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and ability to work independently.

This is a hybrid position based in our global headquarters in Reston, VA, and will report to the Senior Director, Accounting Policy.

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze unique transactions and prepare technical accounting memos to document accounting positions to ensure proper accounting and disclosure conclusions.

  • Review accounting policies and procedures for ongoing pertinence.

  • Collaborate with other teams (FP&A, Tax, Legal, Operations, Business Developments, Treasury, etc.) to provide technical accounting guidance on various topics including: revenue recognition, software development, business combinations, leases, stock-based compensation, and derivatives.

  • Monitor and assess the impact of new accounting standards and lead implementations as applicable.

  • Take the lead on specific topics including: purchase accounting, software development, lease accounting, impairment assessments of goodwill and long lived assets, accounting of joint ventures, and segment reporting.

  • Interact with external auditors.

  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly Forms 10-Q and 8-K earnings release, and annual Form 10-K and Proxy statement.

  • Assist in maintaining and improving SOX compliance related to technical accounting processes.

  • Provide support on various special projects as assigned by management.

What You Will Bring With You

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or other technical accounting roles, including experience with the following areas of U.S. GAAP: ASC 606, 805, 842, and 718.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related discipline.

  • CPA Certification
