SUMMARY

The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (AEU) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in financial reporting, accounting operations, and guiding the finance team in their professional development. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills combined with exceptional communication and collaboration abilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, including quarterly board meeting financials and coordination of annual audit as primary contact with external auditor.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies while maintaining a streamlined accounting process.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis, identify trends, and present findings to management.
  • Implement process improvements and the adoption of new accounting systems and technologies.
  • Mentor and support accounting staff, offering guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.

  • Insurance industry experience is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Power BI).
