This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of C Spire's financial records and reporting. As a Senior Accountant, you will support core accounting functions including month-end close, accrual management, reconciliations, and financial analysis, while partnering cross-functionally to provide insight and maintain compliance with accounting standards. The level of responsibility, autonomy, and leadership will scale based on experience and demonstrated capability.
Responsibilities:
What You Will Do
In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.
• Assist with month-end close processes, including preparation and review of financial statements
• Manage accruals and prepaids, ensuring accurate recording and timely adjustments
• Prepare and post journal entries with complete and well-supported documentation
• Perform account reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies
• Conduct departmental and operational analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
• Apply and maintain ASC 606 revenue recognition principles, including management of the revenue recognition subledger
• Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and provide insights
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation
• Maintain and update accounting records, systems, and supporting schedules
• Contribute to special projects, system enhancements, and ad-hoc financial analysis as needed
