HR & ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Direct Hire
Monday - Friday
8:00 am - 5:00 pm

POSITION SUMMARY

A well-established, family-owned custom home builder is seeking an experienced HR & Accounting Manager to oversee key human resources, payroll, and accounting functions.
This is a hands-on hybrid role requiring meaningful professional experience in both Human Resources and Accounting. The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of HR experience, 2 years of payroll experience, and 6 years of accounting experience.
This position is ideal for an experienced HR and accounting professional who is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small-business environment. The HR & Accounting Manager will manage day-to-day HR responsibilities including employee relations, onboarding, benefits, workers' compensation, compliance, safety programs, and employee records while also maintaining responsibility for the company's accounting and payroll functions.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Candidates must meet the following experience requirements:
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience, including hands-on responsibility for employee relations, benefits, compliance, onboarding, workers' compensation, and HR administration
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Serve as a primary resource for day-to-day employee relations and HR matters
  • Coordinate recruiting, hiring, and onboarding for office and field employees
  • Administer employee benefits and coordinate open enrollment
  • Maintain personnel files and required HR documentation
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and related documentation
  • Assist with employment law and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain and support HR policies and procedures

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
  • Maintain job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and construction accounting records
  • Process construction draws and monitor project profitability
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Maintain inventory and fixed asset records
  • Support annual audits and tax preparation
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Utilize Sage accounting software to maintain accurate financial records
PAYROLL
  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain payroll records and employee deductions
  • Administer commission and bonus calculations
  • Ensure payroll compliance and reporting requirements are met
