Job description

A growing service organization in Schaumburg, Illinois is seeking an experienced Part-Time Accounting Manager to support and strengthen its accounting and financial reporting processes within QuickBooks. This hybrid position offers $30-37 per hour, depending on experience, with an anticipated schedule of approximately 15–20 hours per week initially. The role will focus heavily on QuickBooks, departmental financial reporting, reconciliations, and ensuring operational data accurately aligns with accounting records. This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working directly with detailed financial information and improving existing processes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating with company leadership, internal accounting and revenue-operations teams, and outside accounting advisers. This position is particularly well suited to someone who can bring structure to financial reporting and establish reliable processes that can be maintained consistently by the internal team. Mack & Associates offers benefits including medical, PTO and 401k.

Responsibilities of the Part-Time Accounting Manager:

  • Review and enhance the existing QuickBooks structure, including the chart of accounts, departmental organization, classes/locations, and reporting setup.
  • Produce and maintain department-level profit and loss statements that accurately reconcile with consolidated company financials.
  • Reconcile operational and revenue information from PestPac with QuickBooks, researching and resolving discrepancies as they arise.
  • Establish consistent approaches for customer and revenue categorization, shared expense allocations, and related accounting controls.
  • Strengthen month-end accounting procedures, including general ledger reviews, account reconciliations, and balance-sheet reconciliation processes.
  • Develop recurring monthly reporting covering revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability by department.
  • Document financial and reporting procedures while working with the existing accounting and revenue-operations team to maintain and consistently follow established processes.

Qualifications of the Part-Time Accounting Manager:

  • Experience as an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or in a similar accounting position within a small or midsized operating business.
  • Strong QuickBooks experience with a background in departmental or cost-center accounting and management-level financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of month-end close, balance-sheet reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, expense allocations, and detailed financial data.
  • Experience working with customer and revenue classifications and producing accurate recurring management reports.
  • Ability to reconcile information between an accounting platform and an operational, CRM, or field-service system; experience with PestPac is relevant to the role.
  • Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to independently review financial information and identify discrepancies.
  • CPA certification is not required; experience in a field-service environment such as pest control, HVAC, plumbing, restoration, landscaping, facilities services, or security is a plus.
